Our process

From first visit to final walkthrough

  1. Free in-home consultation

We come to you, walk the rooms or the outside of the house with you, and listen to what you want the finished result to look like.

  2. A written estimate

You get the scope in writing: which surfaces, what prep, what's included and what isn't, so there are no surprises later.

  3. A schedule that fits your life

We book the work around how you use your home, and tell you ahead of time what needs moving and when we'll be there.

  4. Prep, then paint

Prep comes first and gets the time it needs. Then the painting, done carefully, and a clean site at the end of each day.

  5. Walkthrough together

We go over every room or wall with you before we call it finished, and fix anything you're not happy with. The leftover paint stays with you for touch-ups.

Prep

What thorough prep covers

Most paint jobs that fail, fail because of the prep, not the paint. Here's what good prep covers.

  • Protect

Floors, furniture, fixtures and anything that stays in the room get covered or moved.

  • Repair

Nail holes, dents, cracks and old patches get filled and sanded so they disappear under the paint.

  • Clean and sand

Dirty, glossy or greasy surfaces get cleaned and scuffed so new paint grips instead of peeling.

  • Prime where it's needed

Patches, stains, bare wood and big colour changes get primer so the finish coat looks even.

  • Cut clean lines

Edges along ceilings, trim and corners get the slow, careful work that makes a room look finished.

  • The places people skip

Behind the toilet, the top edge of the door, behind the radiator. A customer's Google review mentions exactly this.

Why we work this way

When a paint job disappoints, it's rarely the paint's fault. It's patches that show through, lines that wander, peeling where a glossy surface wasn't scuffed, or a schedule nobody explained. A clear process takes those surprises out of the job.

It's the same approach Carleton Prime brings to its renovation work: plan properly, communicate clearly, and finish what we start.

What a painting customer said

I asked them to re-paint some rooms in my house, and the painter did an excellent job. The mistakes from years ago were erased. He even painted behind the toilets.
